Post-Exposure Prophylaxis Problems

Posted by mikezillion at December 4th, 2007

Some of the bareback studios seem to think that giving the performers treatments after exposing them to unsafe sex on camera makes them responsible. Well, it seem that the term responsible may be getting some testing.

A bareback performer in the U.K. who goes by the name of Craig may be filing a lawsuit against the studio where he claims he was infected during a shoot. It’s a shame it has to come to this. Frankly, I don’t know if the young man has a case; he did make his own choices, and he was old enough to know the risks. It may also not be easy for him to prove that his infection was actually related to the shoot. I am less familiar with the laws in the U.K. than I am with the laws here in the United States. We tend to err on the side of individual responsibility over social conscience.

It’s great that HIV infections are treatable, and that the disease that
can result is no longer a death sentence. I don’t think infected
performers (or people in general) should be stigmatized. The point is that there are real consequences to filming bareback porn. Beyond the overall social impact of eroticizing dangerous activities, there are actual men getting actual diseases on camera for money.

Toothpaste and Erotica

Posted by mikezillion at October 15th, 2007

I have to hand it to Jack over at the Gay Porn Blog. I can’t imagine how he comes up with this stuff. Here’s one very sexy (but not explicit) clip, featuring hot gay porn star Francois Sagat, that I personally can’t get enough of:

Kinky Blog Posting

Posted by mikezillion at August 27th, 2007

One of my new favorite blogs is Behind Kink, published by the good folks who run Kink.com out of the beautiful San Francisco Armory Building. They’ve been doing for video blogging what “Got Milk” did for television commercials. For example, a recent posting includes a great behind-the-scenes video about how they evaluate straight male talent for their productions. (Sometimes I’m really glad I’m gay!)

Anderson Cooper Outed?

Posted by mikezillion at April 4th, 2007

I always thought there was something appealing about Anderson Cooper. Now the French gay magazine Tetu tells me that the American magazine OUT will be officially outing the popular journalist (along with longtime-passing movie star Jodie Foster) in their next issue. Personally, I agree with the old GLAAD-SF mantra that it is not at all negative to say that someone is gay. But I don’t think it makes sense to mention it without an appropriate context. OUT’s proposed context is that gay people with media influence have an obligation to make their orientation known, for the sake of visibility. I’m not so sure that I would publish a magazine cover specifically to make the point. But I am sure it will sell copies.

X-Rated Guitars?

Posted by mikezillion at February 28th, 2007

When I first heard that Schechter Guitars was going to collaborate with Vivid Entertainment on a new line of guitars, my mind went immediately to the cunnilingus scene in the Tenacious D movie The Pick of Destiny. (Where did those strings go, anyway?) Turns out the new guitars will just be regular guitars, although they will be emblazoned with the likenesses of Vivid stars such as Briana Banks and Stefani Morgan. Inspiration enough, I should think!

Jenna Jameson Breaks Down Another Wall

Posted by mikezillion at February 8th, 2007

Does it seem to anyone out there that I’m in love with Jenna Jameson? This woman continues to fascinate me with her business sense, and her universal charisma. Recently named AVN’s Crossover Star of the Year, Ms. Jameson is now appearing in mainstream advertisements for a fine jewelry company. LEOR,  owner Leor Yerushalmi says that he didn’t consider that he was working with a “porn star,” just with Jenna.

Kathy, not Chi Chi?

Posted by mikezillion at February 1st, 2007

Don’t get me wrong. I’m delighted to see Kathy Griffin getting down with all us gay guys in San Francisco as she hosts the GayVN Awards. I’m just a little surprised to learn that Chi Chi Larue won’t be doing her usual fabulous (ultra-fabulous) job in that role. Big shoes to fill, Kathy!

Everything Coming Up Jenna Jameson

Posted by mikezillion at January 19th, 2007

bonus_pc6.jpgWho doesn’t love Jenna Jameson? I can’t imagine anyone. With her industry-driving ClubJenna.com subscriber site, and her amazing diversity of products, this woman is a definite powerhouse. Now rumors are flying that her autobiography, How to Make Love Like a Porn Star, is going to be made into a mainstream Hollywood movie. Is it true that Jenna wants Scarlett Johansson to play her? We’ll have to wait and see…

Posted by mikezillion at January 17th, 2007

buckangel005.jpgI recently wrote about female-to-male transsexual performer Buck Angel’s nominations from AVN. I’m really excited to learn that Buck has won Transsexual Performer of the Year. Way to go, in a very competitive category!
